Meet JM

Fast Prep was created by Jih-Ming Chen (JM) and is operated by JM Consulting Co., Ltd. JM achieved an overall IELTS Academic band score of 8.5 in 2011. This is his personal test history, not an IELTS examiner qualification or a promise of another learner’s result.

Since founding JM Consulting in 2024, he has helped people pursue international careers through career coaching, interview preparation and practical English coaching. He has created more than 300 English-learning videos. His work also includes IELTS teaching and coaching, and an IELTS preparation guide he authored, available through Peak Skills Hub.

He shares English-learning and international career insights with more than 13,000 followers on Threads (@jmglobals).

Why Fast Prep exists

For many learners, IELTS is a step towards international education and a career abroad. JM’s own preparation experience led him to focus on a practical need: opportunities to try an answer, receive feedback and practise again.

Fast Prep brings vocabulary practice together with AI-assisted speaking and writing feedback. Speaking and writing were the starting point because learners need opportunities to produce their own answers. Extending practice to other test sections is a future ambition, not a feature currently promised.

Who creates the content

JM authored the IELTS preparation guide and developed the instructions and feedback approach used by the app’s AI agents.

Explanations about the test are checked against the official sources linked on each page. Original teaching examples are labelled where relevant and are not official exam materials. We do not describe these articles as individually reviewed by JM or an IELTS examiner unless that review has actually taken place.

How to use AI feedback

The app uses AI to generate speaking and writing feedback. Its approach draws on the publicly available IELTS assessment categories and band descriptors. Those descriptors explain what is assessed; using them does not reproduce an official examiner’s judgement.

AI can mishear speech, miss context or make an incorrect suggestion. Feedback and estimated bands are learning references for the submitted response, not official IELTS results or guarantees. Compare suggestions with your intended meaning and the official descriptors, and seek a qualified teacher’s guidance when something is unclear.

Sources and corrections

We link to official IELTS sources for test format and scoring information. Publication and update dates on study articles describe the article’s history; they are not evidence of an examiner review.

If you spot an unclear explanation or an error, use our support page and include the page address and the passage concerned. Corrections should be based on the relevant source and reflected in the affected article.

An independent learning resource

IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP IELTS, and Cambridge University Press & Assessment. Fast Prep and JM Consulting Co., Ltd. are independent and are not affiliated with or endorsed by these organisations.
